Who am I?

 

I am an administrative professional with over 20 years’ experience and highly proficient in audio transcription, word processing, desktop publishing and presentation, coupled with excellent organisational skills.

 

My qualifications include an HNC in Office Administration and an SVQ Level II in Information Technology.

 

Starting off my career as PA to a celebrity astrologer gave me a fabulous grounding in being the proverbial

‘Girl Friday’, before honing my office management skills within the property sector.

 

Throughout my 20 ‘employed’ years, I was fortunate to have had the opportunity of coming into contact with a broad range of disciplines and familiarising myself with a variety of working practices, but always returning to doing what I do best; producing documents to create a positive impact and aspiring to do it independently.

 

I took the first tentative steps of researching the viability of turning that aspiration into reality way back in 1998, but, as the late John Lennon said, life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans, and a different path as a carer was mapped out for me for the next 6 years.

 

During that period, while continuing to research and formulate my ideas, I stumbled across the VA Concept, inspiring me further and giving a name and a real focus to what I was trying to achieve.

 

Finally, in 2004, I set up my VA Practice specialising in digital transcription and word processing services and, setting particularly high standards for myself, find my attention to detail is always appreciated by those I work with.

 

I now have the privilege of working with a variety of clients locally, nationally and internationally and, as a result, I am continually expanding my skills and knowledge by transcribing research interviews and group discussions on topics ranging from business to social sciences, patent applications and related correspondence, as well as typing, editing and formatting a variety of documents.
